Desmids Diversity and variation in Shivan Dam of Nandurbar District (MS) India

During exploration of algal flora and ecological study of Shivan Dam of Nandurbar District of Maharashtra, the authors collected 16 taxa of desmids. Desmids are integral component of freshwater ecosystem. Their role in nutrient cycle and pollution indicator is well established. The paper deals with the description of 16 taxa of Genus Cosmarium Corda 12, Euastrum Ehr 4, Spondylosium Breb 1. All these taxa constitute new for the area. Shivan Dam near Nandurbar city lies between 210 and 21.320 North latitude and 720, 6' and 800 9' East longitudes
