Thoughts of Periyar and Ambedkar about “Feminism” – Related with “Hinduism”

ABSTRACT

Periyar described about the habit of marriage, being all women’s life. He condemned as objects of pleasure. He invites widows be encouraged to get married and to stop the custom of child marriage. Religion causes injustice. The blind followers of some religion very much interested in the superstitious beliefs. Tirukkural teaches “Rationalism” for all society people. In our country dominance of caste in Hinduism, caste and class divided the people into thousands of “watertight compartment”. Varna, Jaathi basis in Hinduism repeatedly stress, divine origin and we are born shudras due to our fate. When there is no respect for reason and no room for equality, there springs up “atheism”. B.R.Ambedkar spoke bravely stressing the need to abolish god, religion and scriptures in order to annihilate caste. Both leaders condemned the caste system, women suppression, inequality and Bhakthi literature. Fresh air humanism, self-respect and modern science only can modified the entire society. Equality, liberty, and fraternity can only change the society.
