ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: A proper posture is thought to be a state of musculoskeletal balance involving a minimal amount of stress or strain on the body. One component of sedentary behavior that is getting more attention is extended periods of continuous sitting. A sizable yet poorly researched population that may be more vulnerable to the negative effects of being sedentary is college students. The purpose of Bruegger's exercise is to release tense muscles and strengthen the ones that have been debilitated by extended sitting.
