Impact of training programme on surgical stapler device and staples in term of Knowledge and Practice among staff working in operating room

ABSTRACT
Background of study: Surgical staplers and staples are medical devices that may be used in place of sutures. This study attempts to evaluate the effectiveness of training program in improving knowledge and practices of nurses working in operation room. Aim and Objective: -to assess existing level of knowledge and practice about surgical staplers and staples, to assess impact of training program and to find association of post-test knowledge and practice score with the sociodemographic variable.Methodology: -Retrospective study design is used in study to evaluate effectiveness of routine in-service training program.40 Participants joined the training session.Result – Finding shows that majority of subject 60 % (24) having moderate level of knowledge and practice score, and 25 % (10) having inadequate level of knowledge and practice score and only 15 % (6) having adequate knowledge and practice score in pretesting of knowledge and practice about surgical staplers. Mean score of pre-tests was 11.17 and standard deviation was 3.921587.Regarding post-test majority of subjects 57.5% (23) having adequate knowledge and 42.5 % (17) having moderate knowledge and practice score about surgical staplers. Mean post-test score was 15.75and standard deviation was 2.35. Training program was found effective where t-test score 9.92 which is greater than table value 1.68 (df 39) at 0.05 level of significance.
