Study on Mergers and Acquisitions in the Indian Banking Sector

ABSTRACT Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) in the Indian Banking Sector have become increasingly important in recent years. This study aims to investigate the trends and drivers of M&A in the Indian banking sector. It will analyze the performance of banks before and after M&A, the types of deals involved and motivations of banks that partake in M&A. In addition, the study will also look at regulatory policies related to M&A in the Indian banking sector and the impact of M&A on competition. To gain insights into these issues, secondary data from the Reserve Bank of India, Securities and Exchange Board of India, and the National Stock Exchange will be analyzed. The findings of this study will provide a comprehensive analysis of M&A in the Indian banking sector, and will be useful for policy makers as well as banking sector participants.
