Data Management in Peer To Peer Computing

Author Name : Poonam Chhabra, Vimlesh Kr. Ojha

ABSTRACT

It has been nearly a decade since the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technology first emerged as a promising paradigm for distributed computing. Over the years, we have witnessed a big quantity of domain specific P2P systems being applied. Peer-to-peer (hereafter P2P) computing includes an open-ended community of distributed computational peers, in which every peer can exchange information and services with a set of other peers, called acquaintances. Peers are completely autonomous in selecting their acquaintances.

With the present boom in Peer-to-Peer (P2P) computing, information control in P2P systems has become a very critical issue. Data control in P2P systems covers an extensive variety of issues starting from storage and indexing, replication and search to security and privacy. Here we examine information control for P2P structures that cleanly separates the purposeful additives, permitting the implementation of numerous P2P services with unique quality of service requirements using a common infrastructure except enhancing the information control in the P2P system.
