Author Name : Dr. Satendra Kumar Dubey, Dr. Harsha Dubey
ABSTRACT
According to Ayurvedic literature Nitamba Marma is situated on inner side of shronifalakAsthi and above the sroni kanda (iliac creast) on both side of prustha vansa(vertebral Column) and covers the Aashaya. Haranchandra and dalhan also give their statement regarding shronifalakAsthi which seems as ear like structures. Vagbhata gave same statement that this Marma is located above the ear like bones of shroni kanda. In Context of Shroni panchak, Acharya Sushruta told NitambhAsthi and shronifalakAsthi are two in number, and shroni panchaka(trik) is the union of five bones in pelvic region .here shroni panchaka denotes sacrum bone and shronifalakasthi denotes hip bone. In aurvedic classics Ilium is considered as Nitambasthi. Ilium divides into two parts one is body and ala and the region is called “Shroniphalaka” region. Finally we can say Nitamb Marma situated in nitambAsthi at the ala of ilium . Injury to this site causes Shosha (wasting) and numbness which is possible only after nerv injury Finally we can canlued that, Adhah kaaya shosha means loss of sensory and motor activity or atrophy of lower limb. Daurbalya - General debility or lower limb debility due to rakta dhatu kshaya and Vata prakopa, general debility may occurs otherwise involvement of the motor and sensory nerve leads to debility in lower limb only.Marana-it is not common but severity of injury involve if major blood vessels to be rupture that leads to hypovolemia it may be cause of death .
