A Gender Based Study on the Expression of Anger among Adolescents

ABSTRACT
Adolescents have so many reasons to get angry in their daily life. Adolescents with high anger participate in constant violent behaviour and intimidation. Yelling, complaining, swearing, and sarcasm are among the physical phrases. However, by lifting a clenched hand, tossing a book to the concrete, dropping a pencil or punching a wall, rage may also be conveyed physically. Rage is often not conveyed publicly, but retains an unconscious rumination. Total 386 adolescents were selected randomly of whom 193 were boys and 193 were girls. They were studying 6th to 11th standard at Prayagraj District of Uttar Pradesh State, India have participated in this study. Study has revealed that the scores of boy and girl adolescents are substantially different on the basis of anger expressions. Both boys and girls experienced high expressions of their anger but boys were facing problem of higher expression of anger in the comparison of girl respondents. The difference was significant (t = 4.72, t <.1.97) in between boy and girl respondents who experienced anger expressions in varying degree.
