A Literature Review on Brahmi, and It’s Role in Treatment of Medical Disorders

ABSTRACT Brahmi (Biological name : Bacopa monnieri) is a creeping herb, native to wetlands of India, China, Australia and Africa. It is known for it’s ability to improve focus, concentration and reduce anxiety in a person. In Ayurveda, Brahmi is a highly esteemed herb, for it’s various benefits regarding mental wellness and inflammation. It is also used widely across the world for centuries, for it's benefits. Bacosides, the main chemical constituent of Brahmi, is responsible for this neurological function. In pharmaceutical usage, Brahmi is used in the preparation of health supplements, and tonics, which are used to treat mental disorders such as Alzheimer’s, ADHD, Anxiety, Insomnia, and many other disorders.
