ABSTRACT
Usually mankind has been strongly dependent on nature for all kind of purposes, especially in textile industry, nature plays a vital role as it is majorly used as raw material for production. Consumption of natural materials results the reduction of environmental impact due to their naturally renewable origin and less energy needed for their production and extraction process. Now a days, it gain importance in textile production as most of the consumers are go with eco-friendly fashion and sustainable trends. So the consumption of natural raw material are high in volume that also needs a specific way of plantation and cultivation. It results the need of excess volume of natural resources. To eliminate this in industrialists and textile researchers are seeking for a better alternative solution, that they found the extraction of sustainable fibres from the natural waste. In that, banana fibres are the excellent examples of extraction of fibres from the natural waste. Based on that, many textile products are developed like hand bags, leathers, apparels etc. These are mostly manufactured from the fibres extracted from the centre layer of the stem of banana tree. But in this research, a pilot study is conducted to made the use of innermost layer of banana stem to produce a textile material, especially non-woven based. This study explains the extraction and processing of banana pseudo-stem fibre and yielded result in a detailed manner.
Keywords: Natural fibre, sustainability, banana pseudo-stem fibre, sustainability, non-woven.
