A Review on Carica Papaya in Treatment of Dengue

ABSTRACT In ancient India, people utilized plants to extract active ingredients for drug formulations. However, the use of herbal formulations has declined in recent times due to a lack of standardization. Carica papaya Linn., commonly known as papaya, is a fruit renowned globally for its exceptional nutritional and medicinal properties. This review article aims to compile all available information about this fruit. Since ancient times, the entire papaya plant, including leaves, seeds, ripe and unripe fruits, and juice, has been considered a nutraceutical due to its diverse medicinal properties. Phytochemical analysis reveals that the whole plant contains a range of bioactive compounds, including papain, lycopene, carotenoids, alkaloids, monoterpenoids, flavonoids, minerals, and vitamins.
