A Review on Fenugreek as an Effective Agent for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

ABSTRACT
Fenugreek is an aromatic annual herb derived from the Leguminosae Trigonella foenumgraecum Linn. Fibres, flavonoids, polysaccharides, saponins, fixed oils, proteins, amino acids,vitamins, lipids, and some identified alkaloids are the main chemical components of Trigonellafoenum-graceum. Diabetes, painful menstruation, menopause, polycystic ovary syndrome,arthritis, poor thyroid function, and obesity are all treated with fenugreek. Polycystic OvarySyndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine abnormalities In women. It is a hormonaldisorder that It is a hormonal disorder that causes irregular menstrual cycles, excessive body orfacial hair, miscarriage, and infertility in women of reproductive age. Fenugreek seed extract hasbeen shown to effectively lower blood glucose levels. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of fenugreek on insulin resistance in women with PCOS and this study provides acomplete understanding of the role of Fenugreek in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).
