A Review on Floating Houses

ABSTRACT

Reviewing on floating houses and houseboats that are designed and used primarily for human habitation. A review is in response to the increased mooring of floating houses on its reservoirs, which has implications for navigation, public health and safety, the environment, and public recreation. Float house is a Canadian and American term for a house on a float (raft); a rough house may be called a shanty boat. Permanently-floating homes in lakes and other waterways. Homes that float only when flood waters swell, but sit on the ground during the dry season. Floating and amphibious houses are built to be situated in a water body and are designed to adapt to rising and falling water levels. Floating houses are permanently in the water, while amphibious houses are situated above the water and are designed to float when the water levels rise. Floating houses have already been built in various countries, like The Netherlands and the UK, and amphibious houses in The Netherlands. The scale can vary from individual houses to major groupings of dwellings to, theoretically, full-blown floating cities. So far, this option has been most experimented with in inland surface waters, but marine applications are possible. The first results of the Concept and definition, floating house, history of floating house, floating survival house for natural disaster, moving houses, floating structures, outlook and adaptive floating houses are presented in the paper.
