A Review on Herbal Tea Formulation

ABSTRACT Herbal tea is essentially a blend made from the leaves, seeds or roots of various plants. Contrary to popular belief, they do not come from the typical tea plants but are instead known as ‘tisanes’. There are many types of tisanes (herbal teas) that have been valued for their medicinal properties. Some are consumed for their energizing effects, to promote relaxation, alleviate stomach or digestive issues, and boost the immune system. Popular herbal teas include Black tea, Green tea, Chamomile tea, Ginger tea, Ginseng tea, Peppermint tea and Cinnamon tea, among others. Certain herbal teas, like Astragalus tea an herb native to China known for their strong medicinal benefits, including anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, which can be particularly helpful for individuals living with HIV and AIDS. With few drawbacks, researchers continue to explore and support the health benefits of drinking herbal teas.
