A Review on Matrix Tablet as Sustained Release

ABSTRACT

Sustained-release pharmaceutical products have recently become a very valuable tool in medical practice, providing patients with a wide range of actual and perceived benefits. Sustained release is alsoa promising technique to reduce pharmacological side effects by preventingthe therapeutic concentration of the medicine from fluctuating. Nowadays, very few pharmaceuticals are coming out of research and development, and those that are already on the market are suffering from resistance owing to irrational use, particularly antibiotics.As a result, a little alteration in the operation is an appropriate and optimum technique to make a drug more effective. Sustained Release isalso a potential technique to reduce pharmacological side effects by keeping the therapeutic concentration of the medicine in the body from fluctuating. Most medications, if not designed appropriately, Sustained release systems are ones that produce gradual drug release over a longer period of time, and in which the drug is first made available to thewill quickly release the drug at a higher pace, resulting in hazardous concentrations of the drug after oral administration. This review article contained basic information about thematrix type of sustained-release drug delivery system.
