Author Name : Ujjal Kalita, Siah Samweli Urio, Evangelin Blessy, Deepak Pandey, Rohan Caulvin

ABSTRACT

In the aviation industry the design of the aircraft structure is said to be successfully done by emphasizing on the minimum weight with strong mechanical properties of structural components. Since a number of defects or failure in the structures are due to fatigue and may jeopardize with the safety of the people in the aviation industry. Durability and longevity of the structures have to be observed by studying their fatigue analysis. The fatigue could be reduced by innovating new design of the wing spar, which is the major component of wing. Different researchers have worked on the design development by using different materials, also worked on their fatigue life considering a number of shapes. Few researchers have also worked on the development of wing spar. In this study, a literature review is done on the design and fatigue analysis of the wing spar. A detailed study on the innovations and development is done to ensure the quality of the designs in the long run. From the review it’s clear that the wide scope is available in the field of design and development of wing spar cross section. Fatigue analysis of the designs would give us the most suitable wing spar for application, which would be a new innovation in the aviation industry.
