ABSTRACT
Microstrip line is a new and very effective concept in communication technology. In the 20th Century physics, one of the great techniques for high frequency communication in microwave ranges is Microstrip line. Among the basic planar transmission lines, the Microstrip line is the most versatile, and so it has received considerableattention remembering of theoretical investigations and practical implementations. Using Spectral DomainApproach ( SDA and Galerkin’s technique)[1,2], a full wave analysis is carried out for the detailed investigations mainly on the dispersion characteristics of Microstrip lines for different values of permittivity of the substrate from very low value to high value in X-band. Investigation is also carried out for top wall separation for the structure so that the closed structure will behave like open microstrip line confirming that the line is protected from external hazards and electro- magnetic interference. The Microstrip line is an inhomogeneous structure with quasi TEM as the dominant mode of propagation. The electric and magnetic field lines are concentrated predominantly in the dielectric substrate beneath the strip conductor and somewhat less so in the air region. The higher is the value of dielectric constant of the substrate εr , the greater would be the concentration of energy in the substrate region.
