A Study of Effect of Anxiety and Study Habit on the Academic Achievement of Adolescence in Science Subject

Author Name : Nabamita Goswami, Dr. Shailbala Singh

ABSTRACT : This study aims to ascertain the impact of anxiety and study habits on academic performance as well as the association between these two factors among teenage science students from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The sample consisted of eighty-two students with a middle-class socioeconomic level, ages 11 to 13. Data was collected using standardized questionnaires (Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 and Palsane and Sharma Study Habit Inventory), which ask about personal information and assign points on the scale of Likert. The final result demonstrates the inverse relationship between anxiety and academic success. Academic achievement is closely correlated with study habits, and there is a correlation (r = -.794, p = <.001) between study habits and anxiety in adolescents, suggesting that both are inversely proportional. Research may focus on developing workable fixes and support networks to deal with these problems. Knowing how different anxiety types (e.g., exam anxiety, general anxiety) impact study habits and academic achievement in science fields can help build specific tactics. It would also be instructive to look into the ways that various study habits, such time management and active learning strategies, can either raise or decrease anxiety and the effects that anxiety has on academic achievement.
