Author Name : Dr. Manjunatha B.K.

ABSTRACT

This research is to identify the status of academic resilience of secondary school students in relation to gender, type of school and locality. For the present investigation, descriptive survey method was followed. A sample of 310 secondary school students from 12 schools at Bengaluru district was selected using stratified random sampling technique. Data was collected through Adolescent Resilience Measurement Scale (ARMS) developed by Sphoorthi G. Prabhu, Rameela Shekhar and Mariamma Phillip (2014) along with personal details. The tool was found reliable and valued. The collected data was analyzed by utilizing Independent ‘t’ and One-way ANOVA examination along with scheffe’s post hoc analysis and the significance level was fixed at 0.05 level of confidence in all the cases. From the ‘t’ test analysis it was confirmed that there was a significant difference in the Academic Resilience of secondary school boys and girls. The secondary school girls had a higher academic resilience when compared to boys. Ensure that boys have access to the resources and support they need to succeed academically, such as tutoring, mentorship, and counseling services and create a supportive and inclusive academic environment that fosters a sense of community and belonging. This can help boys feel connected to their school and peers, and give them the support they need to overcome challenges. The ‘F’ test analysis shows that there exists a significant difference in the Academic Resilience of secondary school students from government, private aided and private unaided schools. The private unaided school students had a higher academic resilience when compared to government and private aided school students. Helps to government and aided school children to set realistic and achievable academic goals. This can give them a sense of purpose and direction, and help them stay motivated in the face of challenges
