“A Study on Assessment of Knowledge Regarding Causes And Early Symptoms of Depression Among Rural Women in A Selected Community at Patan, Gujarat”
Author Name : Amit Gupta, Dr. Sneha Sahay Youtham
ABSTRACT: Depression significantly impacts the global burden of disease, affecting individuals in every community worldwide. Currently, it is estimated that 350 million people suffer from depression. According to the World Mental Health Survey, which included 17 countries, about 1 in 20 people reported experiencing an episode of depression in the past year. The lifetime risk of depression is 8 to 12 percent for males and 20 to 26 percent for females, occurring twice as often in women as in men. This mental disorder not only affects individuals directly but also touches nearly everyone through a personal connection or through a family member's experience. Despite being a pervasive issue, depression is addressable with existing efficacious and cost-effective treatments that can significantly improve the health and lives of those affected globally. It is crucial at the individual, community, and national levels to increase education about depression and to actively support those suffering from this debilitating condition.
