A Study on Effectiveness of Yoga on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome among Adolescent Girls

ABSTRACT Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome-one of the metabolic disorder, measured by biomarkers. Biomarker or biological marker refers to a measurable indicator of some biological state or condition. Biomarkers of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome has some biological markers which are a measurable indicator. It includes menstrual rregularity, hirsutism, and obesity, estimation of the hormonal level, ultrasound scanning, pelvic examination, histopathological assessment, skin changes and other biomarkers. The objective of the study was effectiveness of yoga on polycystic ovarian syndrome among adolescent girls. The present study was adopted anquantitative approach the research design used in this study wasone group pretest – posttest design. The sample consists of 50 adolescence by Purposive sampling technique adopted to select samples. The result of present study reveals that the mean improvements of BMI, Waist Hip ratio, Hirsutism and symptoms were again interpreted in between the pre test and post test of Yoga groups. The improvements of difference between the two groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). The comparison of reduction between Yoga and Physical exercise groups in USG findings. The mean reduction of cyst size in yoga group was 2.7±2.0 mm and the same of Physical exercise group was 1.0±0.9 mm. Similarly, the reduction of follicles mean was 4.5± 1.9 in Yoga group and the same of Physical exercise groups mean was 2.1±0.7. The above two reductions were statistically significantly differed in two groups. The mean volume reduction of Yoga group was 4.3± 3.1ml. it shows the yoga reduce the symptoms of poly cystic ovarian syndrome.
