A Study on Production and Marketing Problem's of Pepper Cultivators in Gudalur Area of Nilgiris

ABSTRACT
Pepper is one of the important among spices it is also termed as the “king of spices” based on its good export value and foreign trades it is also specified as “Black Gold of India”.Black pepper or "Kalimirch" is the most important spice of the world. In India there are various spices among that pepper plays an main role in day to day use. India has 50% of the total cultivating of pepper in the world. The production is influenced by various factors such as climatic conditions, labour, etc..,in early pepper is known as the spice crop of India. based on the gross value produced by the spices in the country pepper shares about 6 to 10 percent. Many verities of pepper vines are been cropped in India. mostly the pepper is cultivated from the southern part of India and mainly Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Vietnam, India, Mexico, Malaysia, Brazil are some of the countries which cultivate pepper. The important objective of the study are to be know about the types of pepper cultivated and analyse the production and marketing problems of pepper in Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu
