A Study on Stress and Anxiety Due to Academic Pressure among College Students (18 To 24 Years Old) in Patna

ABSTRACT Stress is a perception of emotional or physical tension. Young age is the critical phase because of so many changes faced by students. Students of this era are living in a highly competitive world which exerts lots of stress on them. Academic pressure has increased over the past few years, there are examinations, assignments, and many other activities that a student has shuffle through. Heavy academic workloads, parental and peer pressure are major cause of stress among students. Stress can result in depression, anxiety, and many other hazardous conditions.Stress and anxiety do not affect all people equally but these lead to negative experiences. These are likely to affect the social relations both within the institution and outside and the majorly affects the selfconfidence and individuality of a person. They are at war with themselves.It affects students physically, mentally, socially, and academically. From this perspective the research was undertaken. This study deals with the conceptual framework for stress and anxiety, their causes and the impact of stress and anxiety to student’s academic life.
