A Study on Various Post Office Deposit Schemes Offered to the General Public with Reference to Trivandrum City

ABSTRACT Post office deposit schemes is one of the best avenue to channel investment from rich and poor people, these savings can use fruitfully in nation building activities. There are different kinds of deposit schemes introduced to cater the differing needs of different classes of investors. This paper focused on the study of various post office deposit schemes offered to general public. This study attempts to identify the awareness, preferences, factors affecting investment decision and also to know the attitudes of investors towards the various deposit schemes offered by the post office. The sampling method used for the study was convenience sampling. The source of study is based on primary data and secondary data. The data were collected from investors using questionnaire and the area of study is limited to Trivandrum city in Kerala. The primary data were analyzed by percentage analysis. This study will be useful for the investors to know more about the postal deposit schemes and take decision regarding their investment in post office. This study revealed that majority of the respondents invest in the post office deposits schemes for the purpose of safety and security and they were aware about the deposit schemes through agents.
