A Study to Compare the Effect of Football Hold Versus Cradle Hold Method of Breast Feeding on Maternal Comfort Among Post Caesarean Mothers in A Selected Hospital Bangalore

ABSTRACT Breast feeding is not a choice but it is a responsibility of the mother. While breast feeding may not seem the right choice for every parent, it is the best choice for every baby. Pain, fatigue and psychological disturbances are some of the common reasons frequently complained by the post caesarean mothers and it leads to delay in initiation of breastfeeding for the baby. The aim of this study to conclude which breast feeding position may be the best choice for the mother with caesarean section. This study conducted to assess the comfort level of post caesarean mothers during breast feeding in cradle hold versus football hold position. The results of the study shows that there is a significant difference between football hold method and cradle hold method of breast feeding position. Among two positions football hold method showed higher maternal comfort than cradle hold method. In group 1, mean score of football hold method is 35.47 and mean score of cradle hold method is 26.59. In group 2, mean score of football hold method is 32.94 and mean score of cradle hold method is 23.29. There is a significant difference between two methods of breast feeding between the groups (P<0.001).
