A Theoretical Framework of Feminism and Identity Crisis in the Select Novels of Kavery Nambisan
Author Name : Amudha E, Dr. G Vennila
ABSTRACT
The process of self-discovery is a journey that is at times rigid and dangerous and more so in the case of middle class women bound by the norms of patriarchal society. Kavery Nambisan through her novels The Story that must not be Told and The Scent of Pepper attempts to break the mechanical journey of women as housewives and tries to trace the opportunities that enable them to survive and prove their true identity.
This paper is an attempt to analyse the Theoretical Framework of Feminism and Identity Crisis in the select novels of Kavery Nambisan. Women in Nambisan’s novels are strong characters who lead significant lives that go beyond the role of a homemaker: truly liberated they flourish in all facets of life.
Key words: Patriarchy, Identity, Status, Difficult Journey, Middle class problems in society.
