ABSTRACT
Ayurveda has great contribution in treatment of diseases as well as prevention of diseases ; gives equal importance to Ahara and Vihara. This is defined as the most important pillar of the Life. The modern world is currently facing an epidemic of lifestyle related diseases like; Diabetes, Obesity, Heart Diseases etc, as a result of stress, improper diet and irregular or sedentary lifestyle. Person becomes unable to enjoy their full life-span. We often talk about Ahara but does not emphasize on Vihara; which is actually responsible for life-style disorders. Correct Vihara helps to avoid these disorders and gives a healthy life span. Ayurveda believes that in order to achieve and maintain healthy living i.e. Arogya, it is essential to practice a healthy Vihara like Dinacharya (day-regimen), Ratricharya (night-regimen), Ritucharya (seasonal-regimen) Ahara-vidhi (diet rule), Sadavritta (code of conduct) etc. Ayurveda promotes physical, mental as well as spiritual health which ultimately leads to symptomatic improvement and improvement in the quality of life.
