An Empirical Study on Bilateral Trade Relations between India and China: An Overview

ABSTRACT India and China today represents Asia’s two largest and most dynamic economies which are emerging as new trend setters in international relations. The present study analyzes the bilateral trade between India and China over the period from 2001 to 2019, data were collected from International trade statistics from ITC Trade Map and UNCTAD. The study found that trade between India and China presents, remains a huge space for trade cooperation, and huge potential for bilateral trade development. Further the study entails that India has a large export potential in China, and it could emerge as a competitive supplier for the Chinese market based on expansion of our global competitiveness. According to the present situation India needs to complement China as an efficient partner, so that it can emerge competitively for other countries in both the Asian region as well as in the global market.
