ABSTRACT
Assertiveness is the ability to express yourself and your rights without violating the rights of others. Assertiveness is frequently misunderstood. Non -Assertiveness involves expressing thoughts, feelings and beliefs in a way that is inappropriate and violates the rights of others while assertiveness tries to find a solution.Assertiveness is tool for confidently and way of saying ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ . Personal identity is mainly based on the self – concept. Self –concept is the cognitive or thinking component of the self, and generally refers to the totality of a complex, organized, and dynamic system of learned beliefs, attitudes and opinions that each person holds to be true about his or her personal existence.The last and best component of self-concept is self –Esteem.Lack of self-esteem may lead to poor acquisition of the skills and abilities that are needed to achieve objectives and thus it turns affect one’s successful way of life.Assertiveness training is a form of behavior therapy designed to help people stand for themselves-to empower themselves, in more contemporary terms and helps in improving self-esteem.
