An X-Ray Image Enhancement Algorithm for Dangerous Goods in Airport Security Inspection

ABSTRACT

An X-ray image enhancement technique integrating USM+CLAHE is presented to address the issue of colour distortion in CLAHE enhanced airport security X-ray pictures. Prior to merging the improved R, G, and B grayscale pictures, compute the grayscale images on the R, G, and B channels of the X-ray image and apply CLAHE enhancement, where appropriate. After applying the USM sharpening operation to the CLAHE-enhanced X-ray picture, combine the original and sharpened images in accordance with the weight. The experimental findings demonstrate that the USM+CLAHE method can efficiently improve the security X-ray picture while also suppressing the improved image's colour distortion.
