Analysis of Bevel Gear Assembly on Ansys

ABSTRACT
Gears are circular mechanical parts having teeth on its circumference. They are one the necessary elements of machines. Gears are used to transmit power from one shaft to another shaft by direct contact between teeth. Shafts have gears connected by teeth. The very first gear built in history was the spur gear which is used to transmit motion between shafts having axis parallel to each other. But evolvement of machines in the past centuries requires gears to transmit power in nonparallel axis. Due to these requirements gears have been modified. Bevel gears are very well used to transmit power between nonparallel shafts. In this project I am trying to find out the effect of module on the stress and deformation of the bevel gear meshing tooth by comparing the results on three different materials under same loading conditions. Three models of different module have been designed. A model of two meshing bevel gears is designed using SOLIDWORKS. The IGS file of this model was then imported on ANSYS and then analysis had been performed. The results for stress and deformation in different materials were then compared and finally conclusions were drawn.
