Author Name : Janet Mendonca, Dr. Paul Pudussery
ABSTRACT
Higher Education in the 21st century has scaled to greater heights achieving its goals in excellence and competence bringing in quality. Over the years the evolution of the assessment and the accreditation of the colleges and the universities by the regulatory bodies has resulted into better quality. The grading of the institutions using various parameters has made the entire system renewed in the outcome. The focus is stressed on the different approaches and the models that are relevant in today’s higher education and that further gives a direction towards the institution’s vision to be achieved and bring about a better impact. It always embodies a new challenge, new concepts and ideas to be worked out to become competent and relevant in aiming at what is significant and ideal. This study provides an insight into how the assessment and accreditation of the higher education institutions in Nagaland have shown a significant impact in the entire education system bringing in Quality culture while considering those which have still to be assessed and accredited. The study reviews the quality of education using the seven parameters of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The researcher used the Survey method and random sampling of 600 students, 300 from the NAAC assessed and 300 from the non-assessed colleges. The samples were also taken from the faculty, 60 from the assessed colleges and 60 from the non-assessed colleges. The study proves that there is a significant difference in quality of education in all aspects from pre to the post assessment period.
