ABSTRACT Aim: Skin is the protective covering of the human body. As a seat of complexion, it is the index of health and disease. In the Samhitas of Ayurveda, the diseases that make the Skin and Body ugly are described particularly under the heading of Kushta-roga. The signs and symptoms of Lichen Planus almost equalize with Kitibha Kushta which is a form of Kshudra Kushta according to Ayurvedic classics. Kitibha Kushta (Lichen Planus) is dominated by Vata Kapha Dosha together with Psycho stress factors (Mano Vikaras) resulting in deterioration of Rasa, Rakta, Twak, and Laseeka[1] and manifesting the clinical symptoms. Due to vitiation of Doshas and Dhatus clinical symptoms such as constriction of channels brownish or blackish Skin lesions and severe Pruritis appear on the Skin. The objective of the current study was to evaluate the impact of Ayurvedic treatment on lichen planus.
