ABSTRACT This paper investigates the development and simulation of a Battery Management System (BMS) for electric vehicles (EVs), focusing on a 60V, 120Ah lithium-ion battery pack. A robust BMS is essential for maintaining battery health, optimizing performance, and ensuring safety in EV applications. The study models a BMS using MATLAB/Simulink, emphasizing State of Charge (SOC) estimation, cell balancing, thermal management, and fault protection. The simulation tests the model under various load and environmental conditions, demonstrating the BMS's effectiveness in preserving battery health and operational efficiency. Results indicate improved accuracy in SOC estimation, enhanced cell balancing, and effective temperature control, making the system a viable solution for EV applications.
