ABSTRACT

The surgical treatment of anal fistula is a balancing act aimed at eradicating disease, preserving continence, and limiting the morbidity of intervention. The conventional approach of management includesroutine Anal Fistula Surgeries like Fistulotomy and Fistulectomy. various other treatmentmodalities arealso available totreat fistula like LIFT, Fistula Plugs etcbut sometimes requires special skill,sometimesthey are not affordable.High Recurrence rate, fear of incontinence, long term post op morbidity are some issues still coming across during treatment of Bhagandara vis a vas Fistula in ano.Ayurveda offers a Para surgical procedure i, e Ksharsutra which is supposed to be very effective and has minimal recurrence rate. Ayurveda being a traditional treatment indigenous to India, is being preferred by most of the people.Therefore,exploration of a safe and alternative and equally effective therapy is needed, which proves to be helpful in reducingrecurrence, incontinence and duration of treatment. Here, we report a case of a 26-year-old male who presented with signs and symptoms of Bhaganda i.e. Fistula in ano . Participant was selected from OPD of Shalya Tantra Department, Shree Saptshrungi Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Panchvati, Nashik. Partial fistulectomy with ksharsutra ligation prefered.Ksharsutra replaced every 8 th day by rail road technique.At the end of treatment, we found excellent results reducing all signs and symptomsof Bhagandar.
