Biological Activity of Transition Metal Complexes of Schiff Base Ligand Derived from 2-Amino Benzimidazole with 4, 4'-Dichlorobenzil: Solvent-free Synthesis, Characterization, and Biochemical Activity

Author Name : Takle S.A., Dr.Mirgane S. R.

ABSTRACT

Schiff base ligand complexes of transition metals like Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and Ag(I) are synthesised and characterised. These complexes are made by irradiating 2-Amino benzimidazole with 4,4'-dichloro benzil. Elements and spectral techniques such UV, IR, 1H-NMR, LC-MS, and thermal analysis have been used to accurately describe the synthesised transition metal complexes and Schiff base ligand. The produced ligand and its complexes were also tested for their biological effects, including their ability to inhibit the growth of microorganisms including Salmonella Typhi, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus. The outcome demonstrated the complexes' octahedral geometry.
