Bodo Women and Sustainable Development

ABSTRACT Women are an integral part of a Bodo society. Women are the first respondents to nature and its elements biologically and manually. Women know to care for the mother nature and preserve the ecosystem with love and affection. A Bodo woman plays a crucial role in the harmonious growth and development of her surroundings. They use the sustainable recyclable materials in their day-to-day life. Even with the fall of the modern era, the Bodo women have good acquaintances with the sustainable substances and their effective products at home and outside. They cling on to the natural elements to carry forward her family by collecting, consuming and conveying their organic produces toothers. Starting from the house a Bodo women can make a thatch house with plants and soil, she can collect eatables from the plants and the riversnear her house, she grows her own vegetables, she rears silkworms for her clothing, she can take care and rear certain animals for her livelihood and also maintains cleanliness around her house and hygiene in sanitation. This research aims to study how Bodo woman can live and earn their livelihood from what the ecosystem affords her in her environment.
