Case Report: Lunular Hyperpigmentation in Nails Secondary to Hydroxyurea

INTRODUCTION Hydroxyurea is a cytotoxic medication used in the management of various conditions including chronic myeloproliferative disorders such as polycythemia vera and essential thrombocythemia. A known but rare side effect of hydroxyurea is nail pigmentation. This report details a case of lunular hyperpigmentation of the nails in a patient being treated with hydroxyurea for Non-Cirrhotic Portal Hypertension secondary to Portal Vein Thrombosis (PVT).
