Comparative Study of Educational Environment of Government and Private Schools
Author Name : Mrs. Ranjana Patel
ABSTRACT
The purpose of the present study is to study the comparative study of the educational environment of government and non-government schools. Educational climate can be described as the overall quality and character of school life including both social and physical aspects. It promotes positive behavior, academic achievement, and the social and emotional development of students (Seligman et al, 2009). A broader and more useful definition is "positive psychology applied to education" addressed to the educational environment. Positive psychology itself has been defined as a broad term that includes theory and research on making life worth living (Noble & McGrath, 2008). Researchers have found in their study that a positive educational environment can prove to be helpful in the academic achievement and all-round development of the students. For the present study, 120 students (60 governments and 60 non-governments) from government and non-government schools of Durg city were selected. Educational climate questionnaire prepared by Shah and Shah (2012) has been used for data collection. In the present study, it was found that difference has been found in the educational environment of the students of government and non-government schools.
Key Terms: Educational environment, private and government schools.
