Comparative Study of Seismic Parameters of Multi Storey Building Provided With RCC and Concrete Filled Double Skin Tubular Columns
Author Name : Kajol Priya, Vipin Mahadeven
ABSTRACT
Presently Earthquakes are most frequent natural hazard occurred in India and as a result lots of life and property damage due to sudden failure of the structure, therefore it’s important to give special attention to design and to improve the seismic performance of multi-storey buildings. Concrete-filled double skin tube (CFDST) is a creative innovation of steel-concrete composite construction, formed by two concentric steel tubes separated by a concrete filler. Composite-steel-concrete construction has become a widespread solution in modern construction. It ideally combines the advantages of both steel and concrete, namely fast construction, high strength and light weight of steel together with inherent mass, stiffness, damping and economy of concrete. In this paper we study the seismic behaviour of (G+19) storey tall building situated in Zone IV through Response spectrum analysis method using ETAB-2017 software. The main focus of the study is to evaluate the performance of building with RCC columns and CFDST(concrete–filled double skin tubular) columns under seismic loading considering two different models i.e RCC building with Rectangular columns and RCC building with Rectangular CFDST columns. Building with CFDST columns performs better against seismic forces.
