ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper is to design missiles with trapezoidal and planar fins using Solid works and analyzes the aerodynamic characteristics using Computational fluid dynamics by using ANSYS Software. A freestream computational fluid dynamic analysis was done in the subsonic and supersonic regime to visualize the flow Pattern around the fins .The structural design was subjected to a variety of simulations with various parameters such as lift, drag, velocity and pressure contours at different angle of attacks that are considered those are 0 ,5,10,15 at various Mach numbers such as 0.5, 1.5, 2 and then comparing the characteristics of two missiles that could perform with the highest lift and lowest possible drag coefficients and to know whether the fins contribute to the lift or they only play an important part in maintaining the stability and control effectiveness of the missile. The missiles are designed with an ogive nose by studying the various characteristics of nose cones as it gives minimum drag coefficient and maximizes the speed.
