Compare The Effectiveness of Bound Jump Training Versus Split Jump Training Program To Improve Dynamic Balance Among Male Volleyball Player

Author Name : Sivaramakrishanan.M, Muralisankar.K.S.I, Jyoti Chakraborty

ABSTRACT

Background: Dynamic balance defined as the ability to perform a task while maintaining or regaining a stable position. Split jump and bound jump training are plyometric type of exercise which plays major role in dynamic balance. Star Excursion Balance Test is a tool used to assess dynamic balance.

Purpose: To compare the effectiveness of bound jump training and split jump training to improve dynamic balance among male volleyball players.

Methods: The study design was a comparative study. 20 volleyball players were selected from Gemini Sports Club, Puducherry. They were allocated divided into two groups. Group A performed by bound jump training and Group B performed by split jump training, 6 days in a week 3 days for group A and 3days for group B for 6 weeks. The outcome measure, (SEBT for dynamic balance) was measured by dynamic balance in pre and post test for 6 week periods.

Results: Data analysis was done by unpaired ‘t’ test and paired ‘t’ test for the between group and within the group analysis respectively. The statistical analysis done with unpaired ‘t’ test within the Group A and Group B analysis shows significance (p<0.01). Which shows that Group A must be significant than Group B, it have been concluded that Group A shows improved dynamic balance in volleyball players with Star Excursion Balance Test for dynamic balance(SEBT) than Group B.

Conclusion: This study conclude that the bound jump training (Group-A) bound jump training shows more significant improvement in dynamic balance in volleyball players when compared with split jump training (Group-B).
