ABSTRACT
Myofascial trigger points [MTrPs] are highly irritable and sensitive tight spots with marked tenderness and pain which is associated with the myofascial pain syndrome. There are many previous studies showing treatment of the MTrPs with the help of electrotherapy interventions such as T.E.N.S., U.S. and various exercise protocols which included muscle energy techniques. In this study 30 subjects were chosen out of a group with the mean age of 25.03±4.21yrs and a mean BMI of 21.90±3.14 kg/m2; they were selected on convenience-based sampling from Jindal Institute of Medical Sciences, Hisar; Haryana, the state of India. The inclusion criteria for this research were that patient’s age should lie between 20-40 years, they should have trigger-points in trapezius muscle and the exclusion criteria included that the patient should not be on other treatments such as IV medications and then only these subjects were treated with three different physiotherapy treatment protocol. This study emphasises on the comparison of effect of Dry Needling [DN], High Intensity Laser [HIL] and stretching[S] to reduce pain and diminish the tight nodules present in the trigger points of trapezius muscle, showing HIL with stretching and DN with stretches shows similar effect however both are more effective then stretching alone.
