Computational Investigation of a Micro Rover for Exploration of Martian Caves

ABSTRACT Exploration of Martian caves poses a unique set of design challenges. These caves offer a great opportunity to study the geology, history, and possible presence of life on Mars without heavy excavation equipment. The present study focuses on the design of a micro-category rover to explore the dormant Martian lava caves. The rover will have different scientific equipment to gather data during its mission. The design constraints for the rover are derived from the environmental conditions prevalent in the dormant lava caves. The design should satisfy all these constraints.
