Author Name : Dr. Indira Venkitakrishnan, Mr. Shamil.C.B, Professor Dominic Upton, Dr. Penney Upton
ABSTRACT
Introduction: The content validity of the Hindi version tool is vital to establishing its appropriateness for a new language and its users. Upton and Upton developed an Evidence-Based Practice Questionnaire (EBPQ) of 24 questions on knowledge, attitude, and practice that have undertaken a makeover into an Indian language. The EBPQ is utilized to measure registered nurses’ perceptions of their knowledge, attitude, and practice on Evidence-based Practice (EBP). This review study aimed to measure the content validity of its Hindi version.
Results: Among 3 experts from the nursing field, 2 Principals from prominent nursing colleges in Lucknow and an associate professor in nursing from a nursing college in Kolkata. All are doctoral in nursing. They were allotted to validate each questionnaire with a rating scale of 1 to 4. The content validity index (CVI) was calculated. The mean value of each questionnaire as per CVI (I-CVI) was 1.00, and the Scale-CVI(S-CVI) average result value also wasequal to 1.00.
Discussion: All item on the questionnaire was applicable, precise, and understandable for Hindi-speaking registered nurses.
Conclusions: The result of content validation of each item in the Hindi-Indian context of EBPQwas logical and well-founded for the concept of collecting data regarding EBPQ. Thus, this Hindi version tool can be used for assessing KAP aspects of EBP.
