Cost Comparison of a Building Project by Bim/Revit Software and Manual Method

In building projects, cost estimation is the initial stage that involves determining budgets, estimating viability, and directing the tendering process using detailed or approximative techniques, such as manual calculations or Building Information Modelling (BIM). In this paper comparison of manual cost estimation and BIM/Revit software method of cost estimation is done for the building having area of Three Thousand Square feet with G+5 Floors. And the principal objectives of this paper are to identify the cost efficient, accurate and errorless method of estimation. Then detailed cost estimation is done in manual method by considering the long wall short wall method. The quantities are found by multiplying the measurements of length, breadth, height and in software the estimation is obtained automatically in software itself in Scheduling sheet then to get total quantities the Scheduling Rates are considered and multiplied with quantities then the final BOQ is prepared and comparison is done for both the methods. The total cost difference between manual and BIM/Revit based estimation approach comes out to be 3.7%. The final conclusion was that the BIM software gives the more accurate, efficient, and errorless result than the manual cost estimation method.
