ABSTRACT Information is very important for students, teachers and research scholars. The current or the latest information is essential for research work, but it becomes useful when it is accessible. The seekers of information are worried due to enormous explosion of information. They need current or updated information in proper time. To overcome this problem, Current Awareness Service (CAS) of library is playing a crucial role to meet the information requirements of the users. The role of librarian has also become essential for providing CAS. In this paper, we will discuss about current awareness service, its features, types of CAS, steps involved in CAS. We will also discuss its advantages and disadvantages.
