Current Issues Regarding Working Hours and Medical Examination of Workers under the Factories Act

INTRODUCTION The issue of Working hours and medical examination of factory workers has been a prominent issue in our country. We want to raise awareness of the issue and demonstrate how we are moving in the correct path to protect the working conditions and safety of our employees. The existing working week for factory employees is four days with three days off, and their daily working hours are 10 hours. However, the Tamilnadu assembly has passed a law that will allow factories to increase these hours to 12. The Factory Medical Officer or the Certifying Surgeon must conduct a medical examination on every member of the canteen staff who handles food.When it comes to workplace safety, India has a number of obstacles that may have a negative effect on employees' physical and mental health. The hazards connected with these difficulties can be considerably reduced by upskilling employees in health, safety, and welfare
