ABSTRACT
Aravind Adiga's The White Tiger challenges conventional heroic archetypes through Balram Halwai, a complex protagonist driven by self-preservation and ambition. Born into India's lower caste, Balram navigates societal constraints, corruption, and moral compromise.Through Balram's journey, it examines how Adiga critiques India's social and economic systems, highlighting the interplay between religious beliefs, economic stratification, and systemic corruption. The novelist exposes the dark underbelly of India's class divide, revealing the struggles of the downtrodden and the elusive autonomy nature. It presents India's socio-economic realities through the narrative of Balram Halwai; Adiga exposes the dark underbelly of India's economic rise, revealing the persisting social inequalities, corruption, and moral decay. This research deconstructs the notion of the "Indian Dream," highlighting the tensions between tradition and modernity, identity and autonomy, and social mobility and moral compromise. Using a critical lens, it examines the satire’s use, symbolism, and irony to critique India's social hierarchy, corruption, and cultural norms. The research paper analysis serves as a commentary on India'sfailures in social and economic systems, underscoring the need for critical self-reflection and reformation.
