Design and Analysis of Propeller Shaft by Using Composite Material

ABSTRACT
A powertrain is a system that moves a car by changing the torque generated by the engine and transmitting it to the wheels. A vehicle replacement or modification is called a powertrain frame. A vehicle's power transmission assembly consists of a small number of parts that are subject to unfortunate failure. Cardan shafts and cardan joints form the vital connections that help transfer power from the engine to the wheels. In this study, we will analyze the propeller shaft. This project investigated the static and torsional behavior of a truck cardan shaft. Some systems use the torque acting on the shaft to compute a stress analysis using FEM. In this study, a truck propeller shaft was analyzed and the torsional strength of the shaft was investigated using finite element analysis. Analyzes were performed in ANSYS Workbench 21. The truck's synthetic propeller shaft was modeled in CATIA V5 R21 and the analysis was performed using ANSYS Workbench 21 as the torsional analysis. Experimental validation of the track cardan shaft was performed using a twisting machine.
